Forecasts say that there will be Gray skies over Green Bay, but it will be clear in Detroit. Jonas Gray's toughness helped the Patriots get a new running game, something the Pats haven't had this whole year. The Colts had the roof closed, the the skies still came into the stadium. Gray ran many times untouched and almost got 200 yards rushing against a Colts defense thats good against the run. Brady didn't play very well as he threw 2 INTs, but Gray saved the day as he was the center stage in having 4 Tds. Jonas Gray has had a bad history in the past. He played college football at Notre Dame, but wasn't a star. He got drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2012, and he only made the practice squad. Then he went to the Baltimore Ravens in 2013,and only made the practice squad. Now, he's on the Patriots. In the beginning of the year, he was on the practice squad. Once Ridley got hurt, Gray and Vereen had to step up and both of them have. Vereen has been catching many passes and Gray has been running the ball very effectively. Ridley looked like he was going to have a career year until he got hurt though. Against the Colts, Gray ran for 199 yards on 38 carries. And 4 Tds in a Patriots win 42-20, which would keep the winning streak alive. Coming into this game, Gray didn't have 1 career TD. He has went from a small college student to an AFC best running back in a week. Welcome to New England Gray. He's had a tough past, but his future is bright. He was an effective running back as he charged through tacklers and breaking many tackles. He was an unknown player for most of his entire football career. His college stats were 75 carries for 309 yards, and none of those games matched the one he had Sunday night. Gray's senior year was outstanding and now the performances are coming back, filling in for the injured Ridley. He was hurt when he was a rookie, and when he was on the practice squad, he faced the first string defense trying to learn the offense. He sure did, and headlines say so too. The Patriots are currently on a six game winning streak. Jonas Gray looked outstanding during preseason. The Patriots kept running the ball on Sunday because it worked. Devlin and Gronkowski were a key part in the game, by blocking. Both of them blocked very well, allowing Gray to go through open holes. He is a small power running back. Against Detroit, he won't have the same performance. Forecasts say the skies will be clear when the Pats face Detroit. And it makes sense since Detroit is ranked first in the run defense. So the Patriots will have to focus more on protecting Brady as he will pass the ball more and he will control the up tempo offense. It wouldn't be a surprise if Brady throws more, it is Tom Terrific. And who knew Jonas Gray would be as good as he was against the Colts. Gray deserved to celebrate his 4 Tds. The Patriots now have a powerful passing game and a powerful running game. It wasn't all Gray, the offensive line was a huge factor as well. The O-line did a superb job run blocking for Gray to get open holes. Even the tight ends and the full backs were involved in blocking for Gray. The Patriots as a team, not just Gray, rushed for 248 yards on 41 carries, not including QB kneels. Gray's power was impressive, especially when he ran for short Tds. The up-tempo offense got the Colts defense off guard. When Gray was running, there was usually an extra TE or lineman to help the blocking. Amazingly, the changes of the offensive line has changed dramatically since the beginning of the season, and showed up against the Colts. Fleming came off of an injury, and when he was on the field, the Patriots rushed for 181 yards on 31 carries. But again, Gray's strength was a key factor in the game as well. The Colts had a ninth ranked run defense and were at home. The Patriots made them look weak. I'm sure Brady was fine handing off the ball to Gray, it takes pressure off of him. Brady could use help on the ground from Gray, Vereen, and Edelman. Based off of the Colts game, the Pats are ready to face the Lions, and then the Packers. Detroit's has a first ranked run defense so Gray will have a tough time running the ball. It will be Brady's show passing the ball to his receivers. The forecasts in Green Bay include Gray skies. And it makes sense because Green Bay is ranked 30th on the run, so that game will be for Gray once again. Jonas Gray is changing the weather in many places, as the Pats get ready to beat their upcoming opponents.
